What this does: Review Answers holds a client’s submitted answer in a review queue instead of marking it complete straight away. You choose whether every answer on a request needs reviewing, or only specific ones. It is switched off by default and available on all plans.

Before you start

You need a request to apply it to. If you have not built one yet, see Create a new request.

How to turn on Review Answers

  1. Open your request at step 1, Setup.
  2. Select the Request & recipients tab.
  3. Find the Review Answers section, below Request summary.
  4. Choose one of the three options:
    • Off: answers are marked complete when your client submits them. This is the default.
    • Require all answers: every answer on the request goes to your review queue.
    • Choose specific answers: you pick which questions need reviewing, in the Request Builder.
  5. Save your request.

Choosing specific answers

If you selected Choose specific answers, set review on each question individually:

  1. Go to step 2, Request Builder.
  2. Click the settings cog on the field you want reviewed.
  3. In the settings panel, toggle Requires review on.
  4. Repeat for each question you want to check, then save your request.

Questions you leave switched off are unaffected. They complete when your client submits them.

Which answers are worth reviewing

Requiring review on everything is the simplest setting, but it means every answer waits for you, including the ones that are almost never wrong. On a long request that creates a queue you have to work through before anything can close.

Choosing specific answers usually works better. Good candidates are the answers that most often come back not quite right: identity documents, statements covering a set date range, anything with a format you have to check, and anything you are relying on for a compliance obligation.

Changing it after a request has been sent

You can turn Review Answers on or off at any point, including after your client has started answering.

  • Turning it on moves answers your client has already submitted into For review, because they were never reviewed. They appear in your queue alongside anything that arrives afterwards.
  • Turning it off marks submitted answers complete. Nothing is lost, and anything sitting in your queue clears.

Review Answers and n/a

If a question is not mandatory, your client can mark it n/a. An n/a answer does not go to your review queue, even where review is switched on, because there is nothing to review.

Where you genuinely need an answer, make the question mandatory. That removes your client’s ability to mark it n/a, so it has to be answered and it reaches your queue. This matters most on identity and verification questions. See Mandatory field setting in Gatheroo.

Notes

  • Review Answers is set per request. There is no account-wide default.
  • No template in the library currently has Review Answers switched on. If you build requests from a template, set it after the request is created.
  • Review Answers is available on all plans.
