What Are Advanced Template Settings?

Advanced Template Settings allow you to configure additional parameters when creating or editing templates.

Instead of manually entering the same details every time you create a request, these settings automatically populate key information and customise how your requests behave.

These settings are particularly powerful when combined with automation tools like Zapier, which could automatically spin new requests from your templates on a schedule (like every 3 months) with all your preferred settings already applied.

Available Advanced Settings

Adding a Contact

Pre-select the default contact who will receive requests created from this template. This saves you from having to choose the contact each time you use the template.

Why? If you are like 78% of our users and have specific templates set up for each of your clients, you’ll save a couple of clicks by pre-selecting your contact’s name in the template

Adding the Request Lead

Set the default person who will lead requests created from this template.

Why? This is perfect for templates that are always managed by the same team member or department, and when you have your admin team spin them up for you.

Due Date Offset Number

Automatically calculate due dates based on when the request is created. Enter a number to add that many days to the current date.

Why? Often, you’ll give your clients x days or weeks to complete your request. Now you can make sure all your requests go out with the same timeframes.

Example: If you enter “7” and create a request today (September 12th), the due date will automatically be set to September 19th. If you create another request from the same template in 2 days, that due date will be September 21st.

Personalising Email Subject and Body

Customise the default email subject line and body text that gets sent with requests from this template.

Use dynamic fields to make emails more personal and relevant to your request type.

Template ID

Assign a unique identifier to your template. This will be especially useful for future automation integrations.

How to Set Up Advanced Template Settings

For New Templates:

  1. Go to Templates in your Gatheroo account
  2. Click “Create New Template”
  3. The first page you’ll see is the “Setup” page which is where you’ll find all these settings.
  4. Configure any of the advanced options you need
  5. Save your template

For Existing Templates:

  1. Go to Templates in your Gatheroo account
  2. Find the template you want to edit
  3. Click the edit option
  4. Select the “Setup”tab at the top of the template screen
  5. Add or modify the advanced settings as needed
  6. Save your changes
